xiaolong pausssss.

we made xiao long paus and dumplings at the cooking course today (well it was supposed to be a BAKING course, but mrs tan says she'll arrange a separate baking course for all those who felt cheated haha). haha! dump 30 odd people with no prior dim sum making experience into a kitchen and get them to pinch dough into delicate little folds and you'd get a circus with lots of mess. the dumplings (or rather, those that sam, lynn, xp and i made) looked nothing like the pretty ones the demonstrator made and our paus couldn't close up in the middle heh heh heh. but ohwell, our policy was edibility over presentability so haha whatever lah.

it made a really really filling lunch though! we couldn't finish the paus (their skins had turned really hard and...were not very nice) so jo's friend helped us settle the leftovers by chucking the entire plate to some canoeist guy.

overall, it was fun! if anything, i've learnt to better appreciate the nice xiaolongpaus we get in restaurants, now we know the immense hard work that goes into MAKING them hoho.

and then xp and i went to eat ice cream. AGAIN. xp says that if she had brought her camera for the past three days it'd have been full of shots of us with ice cream, ice cream, and more ice cream. boy are we so gonna grow fat.

oh and i bought a bangle from dorothy perkins! i officially declare myself bankrupt. okay not yet, but i will be at the end of the week, after paying for the rugby sevens ticket. boohoosmoofoo.
